Abstract

E-portfolios, electronic portfolios, have become integral tools in education for showcasing learning achievements and skills. This paper explores the significance of e-portfolios in education, emphasizing their role in documenting and presenting a learner's academic journey, accomplishments, and competencies. It delves into the principles and strategies of e-portfolio development, including selecting artifacts, reflecting on learning experiences, and presenting a cohesive narrative. The discussion includes the benefits of e-portfolios in education, such as fostering self-assessment, enhancing critical thinking, and promoting lifelong learning. Moreover, the paper addresses the challenges and considerations in implementing e-portfolios in educational settings, including technology integration, assessment practices, and privacy concerns. Through a review of empirical studies and case examples, the study highlights the positive outcomes associated with e-portfolios, including improved student engagement, better retention rates, and enhanced employability. The conclusion offers recommendations for educators and institutions interested in adopting e-portfolios, emphasizing the importance of scaffolding the portfolio development process and aligning it with learning goals and outcomes.
