Abstract

This paper explores the role of arts-based education in empowering global citizenship, investigating strategies and implications for educational practice. Drawing upon literature from education, sociology, and cultural studies, it examines how arts-based approaches can foster critical thinking, empathy, and intercultural understanding among students. The paper discusses various methods such as visual arts, music, theater, and digital media, highlighting their potential to engage learners in cross-cultural dialogue and action-oriented learning. Through case studies and empirical evidence, it demonstrates the effectiveness of arts-based education in cultivating global competencies and ethical engagement with diverse social issues. Furthermore, the paper addresses challenges such as access, cultural relevance, and assessment in implementing arts-based global citizenship education programs. It concludes by advocating for the integration of arts-based practices into formal education to nurture socially responsible and globally aware citizens.
